Over the past week or two I have started to see signs of autumn.

Bedding plants starting to fade rapidly
    Fallen leaves
    Swifts have dissappeared
    Starlings are starting to gather

Don`t think it will be to long before I start seeing the geese flying in for the winter, a great sight but a sure sign of the onset of winter. No doubt it will be a long, mild and wet one.

On a brighter note, there may still a few warm sunny days to look forward to before autumn really begins [IMG]

Indeed Pip. Don't you just love the changing of the seasons? I certainly do.

Yeah Pip. Definitely signs of autumn. Got out of bed this a.m. and didn't get in the shower until I had switched on the C.H. and given it 20 minutes. Also, I was woken at 5.30 a.m. by Ed our staffie trying to get under the duvet. LOL.

I admit I don't like autumn. It means winter is just around the corner.

The only good thing is, I can get brambles to make blackberry crumble and whisky, crab apples for jelly and vodka and sloes for sloe gin. [IMG]

I also hate spell checkers that keep telling me that 'whisky' should be spelt 'whiskey'.

As you can tell I've got the 'it's been raining all day blues'. [IMG]

I think you are right Pip. I posted a while ago to say that one of my trees (unknown) which usually turns a brilliant red in autumn had started to turn about 6 weeks ago. We finally got some warm weather and it reversed its colouring which amazed me even more!! You can see a change in colouring in the forests around and about here though. It's all coming along much too early this year.

Despite my address, the duvet hasn't been off the bed for more than a few days here this year and believe it or not, I am wearing trousers, socks, t-shirt and jumper today to keep warm !!

Sarraceniac - as you know, the best whiskey is spealt whiskey as it is Irish - but then I'm biased. [IMG]

Kryssy. I foretold someone would say this. Do you think I would waste Irish whiskey making blackberry whisky? [IMG]

You would certainly be wasting a nice drop of the old Jameson my little shamrock.

I'll be upsetting all our Scottish friends now but as I love Scotland so much perhaps I'll be forgiven [IMG]

Well, I have lit the log fire tonight (much to the delight of the feline brigade) but discovered my rhody has some healthy new buds. Also the tomato plants that I moved outside are finally developing flowers after weeks of no flowers indoors.

Maybe I should pop a shot of whisky into my watering can to counteract all the unseasonal activity.
