early veg seed planting

    With the very mild weather all my plants that I put in my greenhouse to over-winter are growing like crazy temp during the day is reaching high 50s in poly tunnel & greenhouse Im very tempted to plant some seeds in cells to see wot happens anyone else thinking the same or have you planted any yet ? wots the thinking on this one anyone please. Mick

      Hi Mick,

      I wouldn't risk it with anything tender, but you could try stuff that won't get knocked back if we get frosts.

      Try Beetroot, Onions & maybe some Cos Lettuce. They'll still take a bit of getting away till the light levels pick up. We're still tilted a long way from the Sun.

          i'm all for experimenting, just work on the basis that your prepaired to lose anything you try now by having replacement seed if your seed takes and prospers you've got nice early veg yum yum :D:D

            Brassicas should be fine, they don't mind the cold. Carrots worth a go too.

              Go for pointed cabbages, Duncan, Duchy or Pyramid, my Pyramids are doing well, I sowed them 26th December, 100% germination and now 3" tall :)

              I'm still harvesting cos lettuce growing in open ground.
