Hurrican winds are forcasted for WALES AND THE SOUTH WEST for Monday.
now is the time to save/protect what plants you can Scotland will have strong winds but its Wales the south of Ireland and the west coast of England which is in line for the battering. and from viewing the weather charts the winds will be cyclonic (coming from different directions) which causes structural damage and strong gusts.
sorry to pass on the bad news the only good news is that it will blow itself out within 24hrs

Don't know what it will be like in the South-West when BBC North tells us that we needn't worry in this area unless the front moves because we will 'ONLY' get wind speeds of about 60 m.p.h. Good luck folks.

The Met people tend to overdo things a bit these days, not wanting to be blamed if a bad storm should hit and they havn't forecast it.
Wait and see is my approach about storms, they have cried wolf many times, I think.

    Blimey, I hope I'm right. [IMG] :D

You want to work in a 1/4 acre glasshouse in a storm force gale, it's not fun, I might be pricking out seedlings on monday with a hard hat on. The panes of glass (a couple of hundred) are 5ft by 2 1/2ft, hope it isn't as bad as forecast. [IMG]

Pete, While I totally agree with you, I said the very same thing last July, 12 hours later the surrounding area was under 7-10ft of water. This time I'm saying nothing [IMG]

My main concern is Sunday - I just hope the wind and rain hold off till after 5pm as youngest is playing in a rugby tournament and as the club are hosting, us parents have to all muck in, so I've been "volunteered" to flip burgers on the bbq for an hour or so.... got trampled in the rush to volunteer for the teas and coffees in the clubhouse!! We will be exposed to the element from 9 'till about 5.... anyone got a wetsuit and anchor I can borrow? :( :(
