    Hi
I have the opportunity to create a veg patch, not that big, about 8ft x 6 ft, but its round the side of the house that faces East, it would only get sun up till about about midday.

What kinds of veg would do best there ??

    Cheers

    Hi jesterhud

I suggest you experiment with your plot by starting with compact veg that grows quickly, like lettuce, radishes, dwarf French beans, stump rooted carrots and summer cabbage (assuming you like to eat those items). If they're successful, you can move on to veg that needs a longer growing season i.e. the late maturing crops like certain leeks, cabbages and broccoli.

    Hi jesterhud
my back garden faces eneast but is slightly larger than your plot, nearer the house i lose the sun at 1pm but not untill 5or6pm at the bottom. So up the house end i cover with fleece untill june after that ok ,at the bottom i grow as normal . I suggest if your whole plot only gets the sun untill mid day you invest in some fleece and hoops there brilliant and they keep the dreaded carrot fly at bay.
    hope this helps metal micky
