I very rarely buy from ebay or use my paypal account.

There is something I wish to buy from Ebay and they accept paypal, unfortunately my paypal account for some reason is not verified so I cannot pay using pp...and the money then go to the seller from my bank account.

Now, I have the funds in my bank account for the item, can I pay using paypal (as that is what the seller accepts) but enter my debit card details?

    Steve...:)

Can you try verifying your paypal account? It shouldn't take long, although I did mine years ago....

Yes, you should be able to. However, use a credit card if you can - more customer protection than a debit card.

I never transfer any money into my paypal account, just use it to pay for things - the money comes from my bank account, via paypal.

Yes, me too - although in my case the money comes form my Credit Card. On rare occasions I have a few quid in my PayPal account when I have sold something on eBay

Steve , I would try and verify your PayPal account first . Its yonks ago since I did mine. But it goes something like- they pay a pound into your nominated bank account or credit card and then they credit it back to them selves. It may be possible to pay funds into your Paypal account and then use it then. I have used Ebay/Paypal for over 8 years now without any problems. But I do know people who have had deals go wrong , I think the Paypal guarantee is a little better over the past 2 years. As in all purchases it is "buyer beware" , just try and check out the sellers history to the best of your ability.

To verify your paypal account, normally they pay in a pound to your chosen bank account/debit card/credit card whichever one you want payment to be taken from and along with the pound comes a code number, when you enter the code number in the appropriate place paypal then know that you are indeed who you say you are. You can always email paypal if you have any problems, it is very easy to set up and by far the safest way to pay for things.
    Hope this helps,
    Val

I've never verified my account and only pay for things via my credit card, ie paypal never have any of MY money, they just transfer it.

Paypal have my credit card details, I dont see why I should give them my bank details.
If there comes a point where they insist on knowing my bank details they can take a running jump, and I'll use another method.

I don't see why they would ever want to Pete? They just want a source of money to pass on, be that Credit / Debit card, or direct from your bank, your choice.

However, if you use a Credit Card I think they take a fee, so the recipient gets less than if you use Debit Card, or already have funds in your Paypal account

Paypal won't want your bank details, if you had a sum of money built up in your paypal account and wanted to transfer that money into your Bank account, then you would give them your bank details so that they could do just that!!! :)
