I have an echium in the garden which lost its tip to the frost last year. It has continued growing and is now about 4ft tall with 5 potential flowering heads on it. Can anyone give me any advice on how to protect it through this winter. It is in a sheltered spot, and I'd really love to get it to flower this year.

    Many thanks. GF.

I tend not to protect them, other than building a cover around the plant, some fleece is the only way I guess.
That would be best removed during mild spells.

I find that its the wet and the cold combination that rots the growing point, so maybe just an overhead cover to keep the rain off might do the trick.:)
