eggs on my vine

    Can any one tell me wot is laying hundereds of clear , glass like eggs , high up on my grape vine.
    Under the new leaves and on the shoots.:scratch:

    We had these charming creatures gobble our grapevine right down to the vine in 10 hours last year ....

    They were identified here as Elephant Hawkmoth Caterpillars .... we did not see the eggs but perhaps that's what you have .... :scratch:

    I've seen these before.
    Tiny glass like balls in clusters.

    If its what I'm thinking of its actually secreted by the plant and not a pest.

    They seem to shrivel and dry out after a while.

    But I would also be interested to find out exactly what they are.:)

    Sorry i was a bit hastey with my reply.
    I have spent some time removing these thinking they were a ploblem.
    Hope some one can tell me what their function is.
