Eggs or Something Else?

    Any ideas what these are on my primrose? They weren't there yesterday.

    My guess is caterpillar droppings. Are the flowers nibbled? I'll bet that there's a fat green caterpillar lurking somewhere nearby

      @Philippa I'm not really the squishing things type!

      @noisette47 Some of my other primroses have been chomped on, but this one is unmunched. I had caterpillar droppings last year on my buddleia but those were black.

      If they're not eggs of some sort and it's not slow-release fertilizer then they may be some sort of slime mould.
      Possibly a type of Physarum. If it is a slime mould it'll disappear within a week and cause no harm to your plant.

It might be worth having a look tonight by torchlight if it's practical.
