I bought a bosch 18v cordless hedge trimmer and it struggled and jammed cutting the hedge it sounded like like an electric meat carving knife, is a 36v cordless electric hedge trimmer going to be more powerful and cut through the the thicker stuff better without jamming our should I give up and go for petrol ? I like the idea of electric but so far the 18v left me disapointing

I have a Bosch 18v trimmer and I find it great. And I have a huge tall hedge to cut.

I've got a Bosch corded one which tackles my hedges OK, really it depends on what you want it to do and how often you "trim" the hedge.
If you leave it too long between cuts it will get hard and woody, meaning to need something with more grunt.
I cant really comment on cordless ones as I've not tried them, but can assume, from using other battery powered stuff the higher the voltage the better it will be.

Expect a hedge trimmer to do just that, trim this years (soft, green) growth. If you need to prune an overgrown hedge, where you are tackling hardened stems thicker than a pencil, domestic tools will disappoint. Resort to parrot beak pruners/lopper shears or bowsaw.

Regarding text received, refer to ' terms and conditions', card issuer and Trading standards in that order. Good luck.

I've got a Bosch 18v hedge trimmer, never found it underpowered for what I want. It won't cut thick stems but neither will a corded one. I use a lopper etc as infradig says for the odd thicker bit. I'm just cutting back to last years beech hedge growth so never really have thick stems in the way.
