I planted the bulb of this in May and after a slow start, it is now doing very well.

    Looks really healthy kedi.:thumb:

A very kind person gave me something similar today, I doubt it will reach those proportions this year though.

I've had a small leaved form that has lived in the border for 10 years, but this spring decided to try a few of those 'cannon ball' tubers offered by Focus. I must say that in terms of leaf size, one of them has been very good with 70cms. long by 45cms. wide leaf blades, that remarkably managed to withstand gusting winds earlier this month. It's only in a 15L pot and really should be shifted to something much larger.

    Fantastic looking plant there.

Mine have not really done anything this year. I think they were planted out a bit too soon, and the cool spring early summer has meant very slow growth.
    Well done you!!

Thanks Pete, Mira, Wilroda, Strongy, Dave and TG.

After reading the different comments, I shall have to bring mine indoors before the frosts. Do you all cut yours back in the autumn?

I've been reading different things - give them full sun / don't give them full sun / keep them in partial shade. Where do you all put yours?

Oh, I bet they do look lovely in the pond, Wilroda. Perhaps I should stand mine in its pot in the pond too.

I just measured Dave, the largest leaf on mine is only 47 x 38 cm. I measured from the indent at the top to the point. I bet yours looks fantastic with those huge leaves.

Strongy, mine was planted this May. One bulb but the three large leaves came out of one shoot and another is going to open tomorrow. Then two smaller shoots with two small leaves each.

Fingers crossed that yours does as well as mine, Pete.

Yes, Dee. It was a great bulb, about the size of a saucer.

I bought it on holiday in Florida and since it had a few shoots on it, I carefully wrapped it up and put it in my handluggage. Guess what? when my things were scanned at the airport, they thought it might be a bomb and I had to unpack it. It gave them all a good laugh when this huge bulb was unpacked! :D

Anyway, this was the third time when suspicious things were found in my luggage. Once I was even invited into a room to unpack a suitcase. I must say, what they saw on the scan did look like a couple of sticks of dynamite :D
