When my cat comes in or has not seen me for a few hours She rubs her head up against mine............................A show of affection I,m lead to believe Hopefully cat lovers can understand where I,m comming from on this one,JUST curious Is this true??????????????????
Hi Slinky, It irritates me when people say they don`t show affection they just stay as long as they get what they want. It just isn`t true at all. My cat sits on top of the back of the chair behind me and licks and rubs against my ears. She plays with my hair gently, bats at the kids fingers when they dangle off the arm of the chairs. When I have returned from holiday she goes mental when she sees me. She is my baby, and even though I am on the lookout for an additional little ball of trouble she always will be. I love my cat and she is the best person in this house at times.
Mine are VERY affectionate ... too much so sometimes .... I don't want to play with you non-stop scratching your head and combing you .................. and I'd like some of the bed back, thank you!
Vicky I,m glad you said that,my friends thought i was mad ,having a cat that sleeps with us. The dog when i was younger did and that was that.....:p This Siamese love of my life[cat] was born a dog, Sge growls, licks and hogs the bed UNBELIEVABLE....I know, but true:thumb:
At one point we had three cats, two pure white farm cats ( a brother and sister, British but thankfully both buried here) and Magic Sam (Boo) who we still have, 13 this September. When it was the 'three' the 'three' and I shared one half of the bed and t'other half had the other half. Now we just have Boo and Cal ( the sandwich short of a picnic cat) and he HAS TO SLEEP IN THE BED up against me .... in the heat .... (we do have an overhead fan and a window fan and when we're desperate air conditioning) and Boo now sleeps in the hall on the bench thankfully because he's big and black and HOT!
I used to keep Toni in my towelling dressing gown pocket all day when she was a baby she was and still is small but a real toughie-L.O.L she is pure white as well with one blue and one green eye (Ill post a pic as soon as she lets me), I could never get her to sleep with me I kept trying, but she has always preferred to sleep with my daughters. She is their only pet ( apart from fish) and 12 now, it will break their hearts when she goes to the great cat basket in the sky, and I will be shattered too.
"cats are misunderstood because they do not explain themselves; they are only enigmatic for those who ignore the expressive power of silence" P. Morand (any awkawrdness in the quote above is probably due to my translation, not to the author)
Unfortunately, the stray cat I took in a couple of years ago developed an incurable complaint and I had to submit to the inevitable recently. He was a very timid creature and would run away from most people so I feel very privileged that he would let me pet him and used to nuzzle against my face when he sat alongside me. Some people I know say that they prefer cats to dogs because they are independent and emotionally rather cold. I've always kept dogs in the past but my experience with Toby has taught me that those people were quite wrong about cats.
Ours is having an 'off day' this happens not because she is ill but her sixth sense tells her 'something is going on' it is always when the cases come out for packing. She just acts a bit distant. Ours always likes a head to head which is affection or do our heads need a scent mark!
Slinky you have just been scent marked your cat is marking you as his/hers...thank your lucky stars its not using the other end to scent mark you ....lol
My Toni gives me a kiss and head to heads me aswell. She is a fluffy little ball and coz she is pure white she moults EVERYWHERE! And she needs suncream on her ears coz she gets them burned all the time. Cats teach you be quiet in your manner as well as your voice. She is never cold, merely disinterested in my stupid little calamities-she has taught me a lot over the years, and I love her. I have already put up a pic of her but I cant help myself, this is her playing the coquette. Isn't she just stunning. The Marilyn Monroe of our house. seconds after this pose she came for a stroke-enticed me into stroking her belly and pounced on my forearm-she s clever too.
My rescue kitten was a horrible little thing, attacking constantly. Hes come to realise im not a dog or cat and that if he bites me it hurts. So he's taken to climbing onto the arm of my chair and rubbing his face against mine, combing my hair with his claws from the back of my chair and kissing me on the nose. Even when he has already been fed :P Of course they are capable of affection. My cat tilly loves me she purrs just at the sight of me. What would we do without them! I cant imagine life without the morning ritual of de-furring my black work trousers after they've all greeted me...i swear they wait till im dressed just on purpose I should take some more recent ones of all of them but heres the "kitten" its hard to believe he was once impossible to touch without armour on His front legs are still a little yellow there...when we got him most of his white fur was yellow from sleeping in his own mess :( poor thing
Lovely story FMN, and how sweet is he I love all these stories about the affection from our pets, no matter what they (the pets) are. cheers
