lol, ok, not my words, i sort the advice of a hippy guitar freak friend of mine, his words:

One is a so-called "parlour guitar" note that it is a 12 fret to the body style which is quite correct for this style of instrument. It also has the correct slotted headstock. A bit awkward to re-string but oh-so cool. These instruments are becoming quite popular again with most manufacturers getting in on the act! I'd like one.

The other guitar is a Gibson "Melody Maker" Fair to state that it could be an Epiphone. It is precisely the guitar that influenced me to get my simgle pick-up Gordon Smith. The GS was definitely influemced by this design. There is no point re-inventing the wheel is there? Notice the "P90" pick-up. This one is known as the dog ear variant because of the lugs where the assy is mounted. The other type is known as "soap bar" and does not have the lugs. It could be a new guitar. If it is an old one then an Epiphone could be worth more than the Gibson, maybe. These guitars are fab. Be aware of the shorter scale length when compared to Leo's designs. You can bend strings much easier. Notice the single "Wrap around" combo bridge / tailpiece. Never a stellar performer as far as intonation goes but the preset staggers on the bridge (if it even has them!) were set up for wound thirds (g strings) and so with modern un wound 3rds will be almost impossible to intonate. I'd like one of these as well.

Any guitar boffs comments and lol's other half!

    Kev

    Hi Kev ...

The acoustic is a turn of the century / early 1900s Martin which belonged to t'other half's grandfather. [IMG]

The electric is a 1962 re-issue of a 1954 Les Paul Junior. The difference being the '62 has Grover machine heads instead of Gibson and has gold-plated machine heads and bridge as opposed to nickle-plated. Obviously I am quoting the latter sentence. [IMG]
