Can't make up my mind which is my favourite - they are all so flipping good (mine excluded of course). I was just wondering what software you all have as some of the effects you achieve are mind blowing and I don't seem to get my head around my Paint Shop Pro (antique edition with faults). I've a book for dummies but I don't seem to understand a lot of that. Is there a book for dummies to understand the book for dummies?

Good luck to everyone and thank you for letting me join in this month. As a newbie I feel I've intruded a bit but it's all your fault for inspiring me to play around with photos more.

    Now, back to the gardening...................

Hi Kryssy, I use PSP version 5 which is ancient too. Just have a play with cropping and the colour drop down menu, you can create something worthwhile with a bit of playing. You can see the enhancements people make after their entries, and the original photo they started with. [IMG]

I'm still using Micrografx Picture Publisher V10, started using it (V2) in 1991, the first colour version. Corel bought it out and buried it.
I also sometimes use the Gimp and Picasa (both freebies)
Picasa (from Google) has the best tool I've seen for curing wonky horizons and leaning verticals, the Gimp works in Linux (when i get hacked off with Windoze)

Hi Kryssy I try and use Paint Shop Pro 8 but half my effects are done by accident. :D [IMG]

Hi again everyone. Got rained off completely for the day so time to play inside again.

Can I answer one at a time please.

Banana Man: I think your PSP must be older than mine (7) so how the heck do you get such good stuff? Like they say, its not the equipment its the operator.

Dorsetmike: First, I have been looking at your garden photos and they are beautiful but I cannot get the slideshow link to work. I just get the picture Ive started with and it stays there. Is it my computer? Should I have cookies enabled or whatever? Second, the Gimp. I saw one of my sons wearing a Gimp T shirt which was a weird face thingy and tried to get another on the internet but all that came up were sites for computers so now I know what that is all about. I dont understand what you mean by Gimp works in Linux but Im assuming it is something other than Windows. Anyway, Ill have a read up on it. Thank you for your comments.

Marley Farley: Wish I could just mess about with the program but whenever I try to make layers and then use the Layer toolbar to click from one to the other the computer freezes and I lose everything. Also the selection tool usually does its own selecting and it takes me ages to control it. So you see, I need Christmas to come early so that I can ask Santa to update my PSP.

Marge: The link you sent is brilliant. Ive just spent a lovely half an hour there. Thank you so much.

WOO: Talk about accident! After spending ages messing with my grapevine pic and trying to be really clever ââ?¬â?? and failing miserably - I finally got the finished article by sheer fluke. I had to write down what I had done very quickly just in case I lost it.

Thanks again everyone but please dont put any more entries in the competition. Trying to decide on three is killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
