22FF38BE-131E-484C-9004-ED0F82380906.png hello everyone just wondering if anyone has had any experience with snakes?! I have an annoying phobia about snakes and feel like I’m going to pass out when I see one. I created a lovely little wildlife pond which is home to 8 goldfish and a spotty frog. It’s also a watering hole to so many birds, squirrels and hedgehogs. Now however it’s also the home of a very long spotted snake with a white head! We need to remove him and rehouse! Can’t really work out what it is any ideas would be most appreciated?? Have a sunny day!

As far as I know there are only a couple of common native snakes in the UK. The Grass snake is the biggest. But neither that nor the Adder have a white head. Maybe google them and see if that is what you have seen, I can't see it on your photo.

As for getting rid of it or trying to move it on I think you need help, if it really is an escaped pet snake (with a white head?) then:

        Hello French Bean and welcome.

We get them here in Algarve too, big snakes that is! We had one living in our shed for years.

This link may help you ... it may be the Grass Snake ...

I'm assuming @FrenchBean is in France.
Only snake likely in a pond in the UK is the grass snake I think.
Not sure about in France.

@pete FrenchBean is in Picardy, Northern France, according to her first post.

You can see the snake in her picture at the back of the pond and by the link I put up it could be the Grass Snake with the white head.

it's a Grass snake, continental ones can grow to nearly six feet compared to UK ones which rarely reach 4ft, completely harmless but has a liking for frogs.

                    Oh yeah I can now.
Looks a bit like the loch Ness monster.
