Enough is Enough

Today I took the battle to winter,
I will not cease from this fight,
Nor shall I sleep with secateurs in hand,
Til my work is done,
In my green and pleasant land

I cut my grass, I weeded, I brushed up, I prepared an area for planting and I checked the condition of the veg patch in readiness for planting my spuds, today I took my garden back from the grasp of winter, no more shall I sit in the house and watch on hoping for spring to win the battle, I've done it myself

 

It looks like you've also had a very poetic day Bilbo, lovely.

This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself

This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,—
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.

Ay up! It must be catching Zigs!

 

Today, Mr Mum said: "Tiller!"
His battle cry was heard;
But, I'm not a seedling killer,
So, "patience" is the word.
Yet, the time is right for prepping
And tiller's are the tool
To prep the ground in readiness
(Must be the "ground" rule).
So, he tilled a small patch: testing,
His new manly tool in hand;
I sowed a seed, or two, in hope
He's tilled some fertile land.
The weather may be depressing
And planting, somewhat stressing;
I will not cease from my mental fight
Nor shirk from my basic human right
To till my soil with my fair hand
In England's green and pleasant land!
