Espalier - What is it

    Can anyone explain this method of training Blackcurrant ( + other ) fruit bushes ?

    Hi Octarine. Espaliers are basically trained onto a fence, trellis or up and along a south facing wall (depending on how much sun the particular variety will stand. Usually a lot I think. Works well with apple pear and I have a rather large thornless blackberry that works well too.

    Thanks John, I'll look into it a bit more, but have to say this current ( no pun intented ) dry spell is knocking the growth rate of my Blackcurrant plant.

    Maybe it will rain soon ?
