    hi again,

which are the best evergreen plants to grow?
is there any evergreen wildflower plant as such.

As I am sorting out our new garden, i'd like to give it colour all year round with some wildflowers thrown in it if possible.

    regards

Well GL that really is a huge question. There are thousands and thousands of plants and we all have our favourites. If I were you I would browse through some web sites devoted to plants, see what you like, plan your garden and then come back and ask what people think.

For example, if you asked me what I would mostly put in a garden I would say sarracenias, cycads and palms. But they would not be everybody's cup of tea. Pete would say palms, Walnut would say Brugmansias, WOO would say roses and Bananaman would say, well, bananas. Others would say annuals, blue flowers, red flowers or whatever But every one would agree that the best thing to do is what you like.

The web is a useful tool so surf around and find some plants then come back and ask how they would work together. That is my advice. :D

Sarraceniac is right there are a HUGE amount of ever greens out there. If I was going to give any advice I would say remember not all evergreens are conifers [IMG]

Hi GL heathers are really good for year round show just stear clear of those nasty unnatural colours!

There is also an awful lot of evergreen shrubs my favourites are the ones with variegated foliage which you can get the following forms in; Aucuba japonica, Euonymus, Hebe, Ilex, Pieris japonica Flaming silver just to mention a few.

For a great spring display you could plant spring bulbs amongst the shrubs and for summer summer bulbs as well as some summer bedding plants, you'll be amazed how well the borders look all year round once your border is planted.

The cost will be low after the first year as your shrubs will just grow and grow! Hel.xxx.
