I'm looking to find a suitable evergreen shrub/bush to place at front doorway (open type porch). I had a Bay leaf there for a few years but it got a bit big so i planted it in the garden.
    Any ideas?

I have osteospermums. Technically, half hardy bedding, but evergreen with a very long flowering season (Feb to Nov here) and with protection from frost, last a number of yrs. I have one in a large pot that is about 60 cms tall and wide.

Hello! It would help to know whereabouts in the UK you are and which way the porch faces, i.e is it sunny or shady?

Ahh..that helps :). Camellia? There are loads of dwarf versions of evergreens like Photinia, Pittosporum, Viburnum tinus, Mahonia, Phormium cookianum hybrids, Hebes and Euonymous .

Irish Yew has a narrow columnar form, suitable for a container. Should be readily available .
