    Hi,
I'm about to try and seal up the gaps in the facia where the starlings like to nest. It makes it noisy very early in littleuns room and they need to not come back.
I was wondering about putting a couple of bird boxes up to ease my conscience. I have an old battered one on the phone pole that needs replacing, other than that there is only the house or garage walls to attach to.
    So...
    1. Would I be best to build or buy, I'm quite handy but have no plans.
    2. What birds would this encourage?
    3. Where is the best place to put the box?
I live in estate in a small village in most southerly point of north yorkshire.
I have a cat so need to be careful with encouraging birds.

    Cheers
    D

Thats a good link Alice

Like the idea of a wood pecker drilling out the nest box.

Far cheaper to build your own Exlabman.

I found it more fun to build bird boxes myself. The kind of birds you can attract can depend on the type of box
and the size of the entrance. You might get some surprises regarding tenants!
