    Hi

I have a big golden retriever and he eats soooo much. I love my dog really, but sometimes I have the feeling is eating the hair from my head. Has anybody got a idea what for food is healthy and still filling for dogs???

In the moment he is getting a lot of Frolic Beef Ringos, but dosnt seem to make him too happy. I found a shop that I liked and was happy about a 5% disocunt, but maybe someone has another shop where you can good food for a affordable price??

    Ok thanks

My dad has several very big dogs (Newfoundlands). His feed bill is considerable. Add to this that he has found that they don't particulary like the commercial brands. He now makes his own food up for them. He buys tripe in bulk from a local butcher, carrots by the sack full from a local wholesale greengrocers, and rice by the sack full from somewhere else (there are other ingredients but I can't remember what they are off the top of my head). He boils it all up and the dogs love it. They have boundless energy and lovely thick glossy coats. He knows exactly what they are getting, everyone is happy, and my dads wallet doesn't take too much punishment.

I fed my dogs on Skinners. My local hire place (one-man band) sold it,for about £14.00 for the basic 15kg stuff. (This was nearly 2 years ago), but they also had a variety of different types of food depending on your dog.

My Border Terrier was the fussiest dog on earth, and he loved Skinners.

Here is the Skinners website, it was field and trial maintenance.

You could probably get a free sample!

    Hope this Helps!

Our Dog, although she isn't a big dog she as a big appetite, gets fed Bakers.
She as had that for years.
As she is in very good health and 14 years old I can recommend it .
She is now on the bakers Senior .

I too have a big Golden Retriever who also has a sensitive tummy so I have to ensure I give him a good hypoallergenic diet. I feed him on James Wellbeloved kibble which if bought in small amounts at the petshop is expensive however I buy it in bulk online and it works out about 6 pounds per week.

The cheapest supplier is JGW Titmuss. They usually have 18 kilo sacks for the price of 15 kilos and deliver free - this usually lasts him 6 - 7 weeks. Google them for their website, I expect they are competitive on most brands.
