freeze them and then wait till the next Tate art exhibition ... (could go well with my giant gardeners corner tomato which I will be growing soon?) .... we could share the prize?

even if we come second or third, we will 'rub shoulders' with some whacky women and get free champagne :dbgrtmb:

you never know? (have seen some really junk things win prizes on that exhibition)

'Untitled (Air Bed II)', Rachel Whiteread - Tate collection

We shouldn't click on that link Dim, it might give some sort of creedance to art that is only just a whisker away from landfill.

Ziggy, I read somewhere once that you can used carrot foliage as an edible herb, for flavouring and that its loaded with the same nutrients as in the roots.

I don't know if that's right (only read it from one source) but if it is, then I guess all is not lost.

When Chernobyl kicked off, didn't the fallout reach the south west? I'm sure I remember something about Welsh and Irish lamb and Salmon being temporarily off the menu due to radiation poisoning. It was the 80s, and it could have been one newspaper making the scare, as happened in those days, but I'm pretty sure I heard that through the media.

It was a bit more than a scare.

I was on a hill farm in west Cumbria five months after the incident when the inspectors from the ministry came to test the sheep. They tested them and said that they could not be sold for their meat because of the levels of 'radioactivity' they have absorbed fron the grass. The farmers had to paint a colour onto their fleece to indicate this.

The farmer's wife asked the men to test the lamb in her frezer to see whether it was safe to eat. When they checked it and declared it unsafe she told them she had put the lamb in there six months before Chernobyl!!!! They weren't the least bit interested!

The farm was only a few miles from Sellafield!!!

Don't suppose they take natural radiation into account either. Many Igneous rocks give off radiation.

Think the Carrots are more a by product of not getting enough water, the ground was dry underneath so they turned their roots up to get at surface water.
