The DVD writer on my Tower is now chewing up discs instead of writing to them. The SSD is almost full so I need to empty out the Photos on to DVD's fairly quickly.
I could take the machine in and have a new Writer fitted, but that would take a week and is rather more expensive. Not capable of doing it myself either.
So question is, can I use a Samsung SE-218BB Rewriter with a Windows 7 PC? And is it any good? If not then what?
    TIA

That would cost more than taking the computer in to have a new DVD writer fitted. And it does not address the problem of writing stuff to DVD's and CD's for portability. I already have 2 HDD backup systems (both pretty near full too!)
      Thanks all the same.

Samsung drives are generally very good, and to be honest for the money being asked for them, you can't really lose. Consider this one for less than £20

I go along with the idea of DVDs, might be old fashioned but al least you can drop them and they still work.
I put loads of photos on a Toshiba external hard drive, dropped it just on carpet, and now its a dead as a door nail.
