Grow trailing types up supporting fences, nets, or canes, or allow them to climb up string. Nip out the growing point after 5 or 6 leaves have appeared and train the resulting stronger growths up the support, tying as needed.
when the shoots have reached the top of the support, nip them out 2 leaves beyond the flower; latterals will develope on which more fruits will form.
As fruiting continues, feed the plants every 2 weeks with a high potash fertiliser or equivalent organic liquid feed.
Regular watering is essential during the growing period, particularly after transplanting so that plants establish quickly, and during flowering and fruiting.
