    Hi y'all,

I'm in need of some inspiration if anyone can help?
I had a small circular pond (about 2ft wide by 3.5ft deep) and last year all the fish died so i decided to remove the liner and fill it in. I thought the water i saw underneath the liner was from emptying it but every time it rains the hole fills up but it dried up in the hot months with no rain last year (can you believe that really did happen?). My question is, what can i do with it now? It would be nice to be able to use the "feature" of a "wet hole" but how, i don't know. I've thought of filling it up again with soil and planting a colourful willow or 2 but i have a willow tree already which has a disease that is likely to transmit to others. So far the water hasn't been near the the soil level, it seems stop about 1ft below leaving about 2ft of water in the hole.
Just for info. If poked with a stick air bubbles rise from the bottom, old maps show that a stream about 1/2 mile away starts from my road but it seems to have been culverted and i do live in a dip between 2 hills so likely enough to be wet.
    Any suggestions welcome and thanks,
    Lily

It sounds like a perfect opportunity to make a feature bog garden if you've got water seeping up from an underground stream. They're easy to maintain and there is a wealth of cracking plants to try, but you must do some reading up and research before, if you decide that's what you want. I implemented a bog garden into my pond by building a loose brick wall across a part of it then filling it with earth before filling the pond with water. The pond feeds the bog garden and it gives great pleasure. I'm sure before long others, more knowledgeable than me, will suggest other great ideas

Plant Canary Reed Grass in it?
Beautiful seed heads in the summer and a lovely beige colour in the winter.
    Grows 2½ metres tall.
Loves wet but can take drought and extreme frost.

I had this idea some years back after watching Gardeners World followed by Star Trek.

Sorry, digressing a bit here, but if the borg are as a single entity, why do they always introduce themselves with we are borg? In fact why introduce yourself? Sure "resistance is futile, you will be assimilated" is not a good way to introduce yourself, even if your intentions are hostile. Wouldn't it make more sense if they said "this is the borg calling, hello good fellows, fancy popping over for a brew? one promises not to do any assimilating or anything sinister like that at all, ever, honest".

    A good point Dave,

I am the Borg, I will be dropping by in a minute, don't bother hanging on to anything from your present life, it's really good where we are going, you won't miss anything.

Bit like the present (emergency?) Gouvernment I think.
