What's the best way to care for my Falstaff apple tree during the winter? Should I be feeding it or pruning it? Does it need fleecing to protect it?

I planted it this April and it has done fairly well it's first year. We did have some apples off it this first year but the skins were rather blotchy although the fruit itself was lovely when peeled. Very tasty. I did wonder if the odd weather we had in the East of England might have been responsible for the dark blotches on the skin of the apples.

Many thanks in advance for any advice you have for me

Don't need to do a thing. Keep an eye out for frosts in spring on the blossom but other than that no need to pamper

As Loofah said, however if it is in a container that might need some pampering over winter. In the soil you can just leave it be.

If it is being trained on wires it would need Summer pruning (Now!) and if not then Winter pruning:
