We have a mature garden of about 1/3 of an acre in a lovely part of Somerset and we just don't have enough time to spend on it - too busy earning a living and paying the mortgage. The garden's starting to look a bit tired and it's probably time to remodel and replant some of it. We're lucky enough to own a holiday cottage in the garden...........We're wondering if there's someone (or a couple) who'd be interested in staying in the cottage (completely free of charge - just provide your own food and drink) for one, two or maybe three weeks in return for some gardening? (not expecting it to be all day every day!) In an ideal world, it's something we'd like to do twice a year, every year - possibly with the same person/people if it works out.

    Interested?

I'd love to do that, but sadly don't have the skills to do it right so I'm out:(

I bet plenty of people will jump at the chance though, but beware, I believe this forum is readable by everyone, even if they're not members, so just be sure not to give too much details out.

    PMs should be safe though.

:) Hi there Courtfarmgarden and welcome to GC.

Sounds like quite a nice 'interlude' in life shall we say. Sorry I can't oblige but there surely must be some folk out there that would like a nice 'working holiday'.

Best of luck because it sounds grand to me.

    An update:
we've had some people from the gardeners corner forum down to stay and help in the garden. Worked really well for us, a couple of days help, not too long or backbreaking and a couple of days free to explore our lovely little bit of Somerset (and the pub down the road). I do hope they'll come again! I won't mention names, but profuse thanks to you guys!

I think we'd still be very interested in making a similar arrangement with some other people as well - you get a very cheap break in Somerset, we get a bit of gardening from some keen gardeners - do get in touch if it's of interest (best by Private Message).
