Our son and his partner are having a new year party where everyone has to come in fancy dress, and we want some ideas, although i have thought of 2 but still would like some more. Please nothing that requires wigs because they get so itchy and we want to feel comfortable.

I thought of paul my husband going as a china man. We have a black flat chinese type hat and now want the type of top that is embroided, which has a mandarin collar, but I don't know how to make this. Then he will need a moustace and long beard, and slits drawn near each eye.

I thought of going as ladybird, so will need some red material cut into 2 round rings for the front and back, and think i should add some stuffing so they are like a cushion, and then stick some black spots on. I could wear a black long sleave top, and black tights or trousers. I would want some of those things i don't know what you call them what stick out from a ladybirds head, what could i use for them, any ideas anyone?

Thanks for the pics rosa the jacket is lovely, but sorry to say I'm not very clever at making things. A friend has given me a brilliant idea for paul to go as an artist. I am into art so have all the props for him.

Please still come up with ideas folks, thanks for the sunflower idea walnut, i was thinking of going as a weed till i thought of the ladybird.

Hi everyone, I'm sorry i haven't got back to you, if you remember i asked for ideas for our sons fancy dress party which was held on new years eve.

Well a friend at work gave me the idea of going as a christmas box so i bought a large box from work and dressed it up in christmas paper and tied lilac ribbon around it. My husband helped me to cut out holes for my arms and head. I had lilac ribbon in my hair too and christmas box earrings.
Paul my husband went as an artist. This one was easy as having done art i had all the props so all i had to do was paint a moustage on him.

I have been trying to post some pictures of us but not had much luck but will try again now i have found our camara which we had lost.

Once again thanks to those who helped with suggestions

    Lol,

It definately is, I have more, but would need to scan them ...... And that would mean me going into my office again ..... But it is too cold out there, so will have to wait till tomorrow :D

The funniest thing is, I went on a Beano to Blackpool with my friend and all his family and I took Donna with me, and it was a 70's themed weekend ..... So guess how I dressed ?

On my way down from our hotel room, I was asked a few times by 'older' folk "Are you part of the cabaret?" :D , bearing in mind, with those heels and the Afro, I was then Approx 7' tall :D

I will try and find some pics ..... I do also have a pic with same paint on, but with dreadlocks (sp?) :D
