fans and espaliers

    Can you grow peach as an espalier?
    If not, why not?

    Yes, but I couldn't tell you how belloc. :scratch:

    they usually advise them to be grown fan trained, rather than with horizontal spurs. I guess some fruit trees (like apples) can get away with having the phloem and xylem horizontal, whereas others (like peaches) need a more 'natural' gradient. I did try growing a fan trained nectarine,but it didn't like the very heavy frosts in the first year, top died but below the graft resprouted.
