Fast growing bush but what is it?

    An ideal bush is growing very well and we would like to plant more of them but what is it?

    Looks like one of th willows to me.

    It's about 10 feet tall at the moment to it's tip. Is that relevant?

    As it's a willow, to get more you should be able to just cut bits off about 12 - 24 inches long and stick them in the ground where you want them.

    The bark colour is wrong for Salix integra. It is difficult to id Willows, there are hundreds of them. I have the book on Willows, but a quick glance through did not throw up and positive id.

    You're right, Palustris - and I think the ponk hint is coming from the pieris behind rather than the emerging leaves. And apart from that, I haven't seen any of those at 10 ft! They don't grow more than 4 - 5 feet, in my experience!

    I managed to find my unidentified Willow on the West Wales Willow website...dunno if that's any help?????

    We live alongside a common where these trees grow - you will not need to take cuttings as it will seed everywhere there is a space for it to fly. Not a great plant for the garden I don't think.
