Fatsia Japonica

My Fatsia is huge!

I want to take some cuttings, has anyone had problems getting them to
take?

Any help would be gratefully received.

 

Not taken any for a few years now, but as I remember they root fairly easy.
just used tip cuttings that have started to harden off, about 4 to 5 ins long with most of the leaves cut off.

Just as a side line, I sowed one seed head from mine this spring, got a whole pot full of seedlings come up.
Some are showing white variegation, I've potted those ones up, not sure if they will stay variegated at this stage, but worth a try.

 

Did you just put the head in the soil, or did you clean it to expose the
seeds?

 

I just pushed the berries into a four inch pot, one complete head, and covered it with compost, took about a month to germinate.
Had hundreds of seedlings

 

Is it OK to do it now, or should I wait to put them in a propagator?

 

If you still have some seed heads you could do it now, probably best in a greenhouse or on a window sill.
If you mean the cuttings, yes now is probably the best time.
