What is your favourite time of day in your garden? When does it look its best? [IMG]

For me, it has to be tea-time. In the late afternoon, when the sun has that rich golden quality and the shadows grow longer - that's the best time of all :D

What a beautiful garden you have [IMG] I like the early morning in my garden, I suppose its to do with the direction of the garden..I find in my own garden everything looks a bit bleached out in the full afternoon sun.

Around this time of the day is bliss in the garden..I can sit back, sip a chilled glass and survey the rewards of the days tasks.....without a chorus of damn mowers! :D

Your looks good, hornbeam at that time, but it probably looks pretty good most of the time, you've got some tallish trees there but they dont seem to cast much shade, but then I suppose thats the time of the year.
For me its early morning, before all the other noisy so and so's get going. [IMG]

The trees are to the north east and so don't shade the lawn area. Under the trees, it's a cavern of damp golden greenness on a hot sunny day like today. I love the early morning too, but at that time the garden is very shaded - especially in the winter.

Lovely garden Hornbeam - I just never understand the term "Tea-time"

Just finished christopher Lloyds "Well tempered gardiner" and one of the things he comments on - people do not view gardens in the late afternoon with the soft light.

we have a favourit spot we call "4 O'clock seat" but its more often 6pm, the sun is just right.

and then you can get into colours - I mean isn't if funny how white and blue look great facing west at this time of day.

I like early morning about 05.00 before the traffic starts ..and the birds are singing and waiting for their breakfast..

A very enchanting garden, Hornbeam. I'm sure you enjoy it both whilst working in it and relaxing in it.

Do you sit up and wait for the 5am chorus, wildflower?

I like the evenings when the sun is setting behind us and casts shadows across the orchards. The sun rises directly ahead in this photo so sets behind the photographer.

You should get the pink variety, speciosa rosea, which blooms all day long!

I am so pleased I have found someone else who rises early just to hear the birds..my husband thinks I am mad. So much going on that time of the morning that you would otherwise miss. The other morning I was having a cup of tea and looking out the window when a huge fox came to the pond for a drink..I did not realise we had foxes in the garden. I get really excited when the hedgehogs come :D

Yes, Waco, it smells nice as well. Actually, I was surprised with it as it seeds itself everywhere, which is quite nice as it's a very pretty flower.

That's nice of you, Wildflower, to make a loaf of bread for the birds ... t'other half makes a loaf of bread for US every other day ... and we share the crumbs with the birds!

Poppy33, t'other half agrees with your t'other half!
