Well I'm not having a good week on the pest front :( As well as the ongoing battle with the slugs and snails, I've now got spots on my Taytas, spots on my trailing tomatoes, and when I left for work yesterday, everything seemed ok in the garden, a little nibbled but I put that down to the slugs. But when I came home, 2 of my Crown Imperials have been reduced to sticks  Yup, now I've got Lily Beetles too
This wasn't the kind of wildlife I was hoping to attract to my garden  :D

Don't worry WOO, I am smiling, albeit through gritted teeth!!The Lily Beetles and even the spots are not so bad...but the slugs and snails are having a field day out there. They've left me with just one red hot poker flower, decimated my newly planted Gazanias and are rampaging through my runners
You couldn't alter your flight path to cover Cornwall could you??? Guaranteed loads of critters for your consumption...bring a few friends too :D :D

    LOL at WOO!
Windy, I suggest you stamp on any that you find, I guess it probably won't make too much difference to the numbers but it'll make you feel better!

You all must have money to waste just to sit back and let them destroy your plants that you have either spent time and patience growing,or have paid for from the GC or nursery.Even going out at night with a torch will not eradicate them.If you don't like slug pellets try salting them.I reufuse to lose any more plants or money because of them.We have two hedgehogs that visit, but the slugs come back out when the hedgehogs have gone back to bed,and none get eaten [IMG]

I don't hessitate using pellets ar salt on the dirty little b*****s. I even lost a rabbit last year as I think I gave it some greens which might have had a slug pellet still on. See they have even killed my rabbit!! [IMG] [IMG]

The wet weather has certainly brought the snails and slugs out in force and they have been thoroughly enjoying the marigolds, rudbeckias and dahlias which I hoped would be blooming in my garden.
I notice however that the osteospermum, geranium(pelargonium) and pansies have been all but ignored by them. Are there any other plants which don't seem to be to their taste? I think it might be worth concentrating on slug-unfriendly plants in the future.
