Feeding seedlings

Hi

I have a number of tomato and sweet pepper seedlings that have some true leaves coming through. I have repotted from seedling trays to a suitably sized pot - I'm new to all this, what feed should I be adding?

None at the moment there should be enough feed in the compost to keep them going for 4-6 weeks. I only feed when the start to flower. How big are the plants?

Agree with Rusty! If they're potted into standard multi-purpose compost, there should be enough feed to keep them going for at least 4 weeks.

 

Sounds like they are a bit leggy, when you pot on toms you should replant so that the seed leaves are pretty much touching the surface of the compost.

 

If you are going to feed them later in bigger pots only use a Nitrogen feed such as Phostrogen or Miracle gro for example and only feed with Potash, Tomorite or similar when the first flowers appear.
Most folk growing toms and peppers/chillies will have both.

 

Speaking as a professional. Please forget, abandoned all this feeding thingy.
Never attempt to feed seedings. All this feeding and fertilizing, such rubbish.

 

Can also be made for free. Nettle feed is high in Nitrogen good for leaf growth and Comfrey feed high in potash/potassium good for fruiting growth.
