Female melons

    Hi could anyone tel me if you can get female only melon plants self pollinating I have 8 plants with loads of melons comming & no male flowers:gaagh: someone told me you had to tickle the female flower with the male one but with no male flowers whatcan I do (any sensible help please)

    Not grown melons for a while Mick, but you couldn't get all female ones when I was growing them.:)

    As melons contain viable seed I dont think an all female variety would work.

    The usual problem I had was loads of males and not many females until late in the season.

      Normally the first flush of flowers are male, followed by a more balanced mix of male and female.:dbgrtmb:

        They will come along mick, just need some patience. Usually it's the other way round as pete and dai say.
