hello from a new-comer. Can any one give me advice. We moved into this house last August - our back garden is terraced and the end bit is in a huge slope and we have built a deck down there and put up new fencing. All the previous fencing in the garden is stained green and I don't like it very much. All the new fencing is not stained but does't blend in - can you paint over or stain the old fencing so it does't look disasterous with the new stuff...

Since nobody else has come up with an answer - I'd better admit - I haven't a clue!! What I'd do would be to cover it all up with climbers, once I'd stained the new stuff. Green at least isn't obtrusive, not like that blue stuff you see in all the make-over programmes! Good luck! ;)

what you could do, is to stain the new fence in a similar green to the rest, wait a week or so, then cover the whole lot in a colour you both like, it may not come true to the colour on the can, but you would have it all matching.
agree about growing different types of climbers along it all.

As someone who is currently staining 20+ fence panels a nice shade of green, I'd say that darker colours (brown being the most obvious), go over greens better than the other way around.

My sister haas painted brown over green successfully, whilst my attempts at the other way round were poor to say the least ;)

if you want to get rid of one of them, Elainefiz, just delete one of the posts! It's some pigeon loft, that!! But blue?? Good job we're not all the same, eh? ;)

Looking at that - I'd go for a dark green and then plant lighter colours in front - trees, shrubs, roses, anything  .

Either that or put trellis and plants in front - I could not tolerate looking at that expanse without breaking it up - tooooo intrusive and toooo much for me.

i think its gonna be green but i`m not allowed trees incase pigeons land in them plus next allotment also has them and trees would hinder view and such but i have plans.at least its at the bottom of plot and not middle where he wanted it!
