    Hi,

    Could somebody please help.

I have recently re-seeded an area of my garden for lawn. The problem is that I have a course fern-like plant growing in patches throughout the lawn and along parts of the bordering fence. This plant is very 'spindly' looking and appears to grow in segments.

Can anyone identify this plant and offer advice to rid the lawn of it.

    Many thanks

Sounds like some weed seeds got in to the lawn area. Can't identify it without a picture. Most weeds can't withstand the regular mowing that a lawn gets, so I would mow it a few times to see if it dies away.

    "spray with verdone."

However, just check the instructions because some chemicals are not suitable for newly sown lawns

I agree with Cajary - that "fern like grass" could be Mare's Tail. In particular, your reference to "segments" describes the stem of Mare's Tail quite accurately.

If it is Mare's Tail, you have a very difficult weed to control, I'm afraid and I suggest you use the search facility on this forum to learn more about it.

Fingers crossed for you. Good luck!
