Hello, I just arrived here after the announcement that GW forum is closing (keeping the username I had there). Thank you for the warm welcome! I garden on chalky clay in Cambridgeshire in the tradition of muddling rather than planning. Ferns are a particular love of mine (it's possible on chalky clay, helped with copious amounts of humus), so I'll be seeking out the threads about ferns. Otherwise I have a broad interest in all things gardening.

@micearguers not many threads on ferns yet on GC; I have some growing in relative shade under conifers, elsewhere I have a number of self spored natives sometimes these get weeded out.

We also have ferns growing in a shady bed - and popping up in any space they can find between paving and rocks around the garden (don't know how they do it ). Some have been there over 50 years - as have we :old: :heehee:

I'm on chalky soil in Surrey and have plenty of ferns here. Some natives find their own way in.

          Welcome to the forum @micearguers
