    wants to grow a fern in a hanging basket outdoors , North wall, late afternoon sunshine which one is best

      Well, Fern, you could try:

      Dryopteris affinia [Crisped Male Fern]
      Dryoperis erythrosra [Japanese Red Shield Fern]
      Polystichum polyblepharum
      Polystichum setiferum
