What is the best folier feed for plants. This is for next year now.

I need to feed a long border of plants, but next door have mostly shrubs with their roots taking any solid fertiliser that I put on.

You named the problem............ any fertiliser that you put down good, indifferent, solid, soluble, or liquid is going to be taken up by the next door neighbour's shrubs up to 6 feet away from them.:wallbang: Conifers and Privet hedges are the same, they take all the nutrients out of the soil for up to a distance of 6'ft and other plants are struggling.:wallbang: You might have to set a barrier into the ground to deny the shrubs from any fertiliser you put on you own borders.:D

Hello Bluedun. I'd have thought most liquid feeds would be acceptable for foliar feeding. Most will require diluting more than the amount recommended for surface watering. Seaweed fertilisers seem to be quite popular or I know a few people that swear by dilute comfrey tea.

Whatever you use it should be spayed on with a fairly fine mist all around the leaves to aid absorption. Avoid spraying in the warmer parts of the day as the leave's stomata may be closed and also sun through water droplets could cause scorching.

    Hope this helps, Iain
