I have a young fig tree, about 2 to 3 foot tall.
It has started to throw up suckers from the roots, and I am wondering whether I should lop them off, or whether I should leave them to develop, or indeed whether it matters one jot.

I am more interested in the medium to long term than short term. Crop yield is the end aim.

    Any pointers?

Suckers will deplete the energy of the plant and I don;t think they fruit either so I would chop them off
