    I assume they are jpegs.
You could try convert them to png.
Depending on the picture content, you may find that they work out to be smaller, but it's not always the case as the png algorithm is dynamic so it's difficult to predict.
    Try it, you never know.
Another way is to re-encode the jpegs at a lower resolution or resize them.

If you don't have any software to do that, then zip them, PM them to me and I will see what I can do and PM them back and you can then try post them.

Thanks for that Dave. Have resized and lowered resolution, problem solved.

Its not just about the file size. There's a forum restriction about the max image size. I think its 800x600 but I'll check. The forum software will attempt to automatically resize images larger than that, but that puts a lot of strain on the server and in the case of significantly large files, its likely that a timeout will happen, hence them failing.

I have intermitant problems with loading images that are within both the file size and pixel limits and if trying to upload pic.jpg keeps producing error messages, I find that after simply saving as pic1.jpg (or jpeg, png, etc.) it will then upload despite being 'exactly' the same.

I always resize to 800 x 600 . This also reduces the JPeG from 6mb to around 500kb

Just testing using a different way than I usually resize them!
