For anybody who's not read my redundancy thread, I was made redundant recently and subsequently offered a great job, but as it's with a financial institution it was subject to a very strict vetting process, so has taken over a month so far!

Well I've just had an email to say that it's all going ahead :dancy:

The reason for the hold up is that my previous employer hasn't responded to my request for confirmation of my employment there, but my new manager has got special dispensation from the head of HR to go ahead without it.

I've been doing an interim role in the meantime for the past ten days or so, which has been hellishly dull so I will give them a week's notice today.

I can't tell you how over the moon I am, wooooohooooo!!!!! [IMG]

        Ditto!

I had a contract where I was escorted everywhere by a bobby with a loaded gun! My security clearance took a year. Finally I was allowed to proceed 'keeper free', the first few days walking about alone felt extremely unusual to say the least!

        Have fun. Cheers, Tony.

                  Brilliant news :dbgrtmb: :dancy:

Unfortunately, employers don't have to respond to a request for a reference and quite often don't bother. Unless I misunderstand you, it was you that asked your previous employer for it. Maybe your new employer should also ask.

Good luck in your new job. :)

                  Hi Shiney

No it was the new employer that requested it (sorry that wasn't clear in my post, just over excited). If I had known what the delay was I'd have been chasing the ex employer to make sure it was returned (and still intend to do so).

I can't wait to get started. I feel a shopping trip coming on this week for a new work wardrobe :snork:
