Fire Bellied Toads again.

    Some pics of my other family some members haven't seen, as they have just had their terrarium cleaned out. I lost Houdini (a real escape artist) recently who was, like two others are, over 13 years old.

    Strange beasts strongy.
    I can see why they are called "fire belly" toads.

    Didn't realise toads could live that long, have you ever had any tadpoles?

    Pete they are all males, females are very hard to obtain, I think they are kept back by breeders. They can live up to 20 years in captivity, a lot longer than frogs.
    Lol, he must have squeezed through a very small gap at the top of the terrarium (they can climb) but was never found. :(

    I pesume they cannot survive outside in the UK.
    So houdini must be dead by now. :(

    I'm not sure how low a tempetature they can take but the room temp upwards is advised. Their European relative (Yellow Bellied) is found in France, Germany to the Balkans and hibernates. Mine come from more temperate regions.
