I gave my lawns their first cut of the year today. the weather here in Central Scotland for the past number of days has been Great, plenty sunshine and a good drying warm wind which has made the lawns just right for cutting. I was Amazed how well the lawns looked after cutting, so green and lush. after the two extreme winters we have had i was expecting some problems , fortunately none . I have now been instructed by the Gaffer to ( Keep up the good work) and Re-do the Decking.

    Hello Music
gave my lawns the first cut this week as well . They have not fared as well as yours . I have more moss this year then I have ever seen ! I used Wilkos spray moss killer , which seems to have cut it back quite a bit . I also plan to use a weed and feed ( Evergreen) on it this week . I will have to returf a couple of areas next month due to burn marks from our spaniel Maya ! Does anyone know a remedy for pee burn marks on a lawn ? And no - we are not getting rid of Maya !:)

Chuck a bucket of water down where you see her pee - if you see her pee ... I have read of Tomato Ketchup in their food, dunno if it works or not. But our dogs don't get Chips so I reckon Tomato Ketchup would be out of the question too!

Grow some grass seed in seed trays, then you have "home made turf" you can use as a replacement.

Thanks Kristen , I may keep a bucket of water handy to douse the spot. I'll pass on the ketchup tip, she has a bit of a jippy tummy , so it may cause little "presents" in the house ! I think I need to get used to living with a lawn with brown polka dots :)

I've cut my grass 4 times this year. Since the good spell of weather has came around, it has grown VERY quickly.
Might be time for me to lower the blades slightly :)

We're fortunate down here in the south in Shineyland. My lawns have now had their fifth cut and the last one was on the lowest setting.

I have too much lawn for me to be able to kill the moss and feed the grass. So we have something less than 50% grass but when it is cut it is green and looks good - as long as you don't look too closely. :heehee:
