I've been reading up on potato varieties , i always grow Duke of York because the old slave driver loves them and i must admit they are about the best tasting potato around.
But there seems to be some conflict as and when to mound them up, to cover them completely or not and how often.
I always cover completely at about 4in three times and find i get a good crop, anyone got any ideas am willing to experiment

You want them covered if there is danger of frost.

Other than that, its the leaves that do the work, and the underground stems that produce the Spuds, so I would try t keep leaf able to see the Sun whilst burying the stems

Micky, as the saying goes, if it aint broke, don`t mend it. If you are getting good crops from the way usually grow them, then why change?:D
