Hi, this is my 1st post on here, I am an ex greenkeeper now just starting out in a new job as an Horticultral Therapist with a health care company. Whereas my knowledge of turf is quite good my general gardening knowledge is a bit sketchy and am looking for a community for help me in my new role. I would hope that I can give something back in return for this advice with regards to turf related.

    Hi and welcome.

I'm sure you'll know as an ex-greenkeeper, that when grass is looking poor in April that "a lot of moaning" by "non-participants" causes steady improvements in playing surfaces and it has nothing to do with warmer temperatures which causes the grass to start to grow, a bit of sunshine, some aeration and some feed.
This constant moaning ultimately leads to perfect putting surfaces by late June.

It certainly has on our golf course.

    :D How old is that?!

I recognise the tune but not the words, and not the folk in the accompanying montage either (apart from Lorne Greene.) His BSG days must have come long after this show.

Thanks for the welcome messages boys, girls and those who are not sure. More Bonanza than BG. Being an ex greenkeeper/groundsman I cant tell you how badly I have made some golfers, bowlers cricketers play over the years.

Also had a spell with a lawn care franchise, for those of you interested I have some real horror stories of how some of them operate.

Looking forward to contributing and getting some answers about the poly tunnel I have inherited.
