    Well done!

Your beans are about a week ahead of mine.

Mind you, they just taken an awful hammering from the wind which has been very strong down here. I've had to trim off quite a few broken shoots.

You've beaten me Robert, well done. I bet they were lovely, can't wait for mine - maybe a couple of days for the first pickings.

We had that bad wind yesterday Flinty, took a few branches off some trees but no damage to the veg luckily.

    Well done Robert :gnthb:.

My first beans were ready this week as well :thumb: but the leaves have got windburnt over the last two days :(.

We're about four weeks behind last year and five weeks behind 2007 (I looked at my photos to check the date :)). I have a photo I took July 7th 2007 when I had picked over 2lb of beans and by the end of the month I was picking 10lb at a time.

Come on beans, get a move on :hehe:.

    Thanks Shiney for the info.
Saves me the bother as I reckoned we were a few weeks behind. I`ve no need to check my records now:)

Keeping my gob shut, I am NOT going to say that my "early" planting out experiment worked but I've already started freezing surplus beans cos we're getting "fed up" with eating them every other day :D

Been picking Runners for about 3 weeks now and climbing french beans for a tad over a month.

My backup plants are doing well too, I planted these a bit late, the first flowers have appeared on the french beans and the runners aren't too far behind!

I know I've been lucky with my gamble but a worthwhile risk in this part of the country (London)

I'm still waiting for mine. They are just about 2" long at present. Only grown in pots this year though. My orangery has taken a chunk of the garden!! That is being built at present.
