Just logging in for the first time with a brief intro:
Although a newbie to this board, I have been gardening for the past 10ish years - so not a long long time gardener (still so much to learn) but a reasonable amount of experience (I can pretty much recognize when a plant is dead, although I do have a tendency to give it the benefit of the doubt and move it to the nursery bed for a while before making a final decision).

We have quite a large garden divided between productive gardening at the back: vegetables, greenhouse, nursery and cutting beds, very small new orchard (2 pears, 8 apples), and the decorative garden at the front. This past winter we reclaimed a fairly dereclict area and put in a good sized damp bed which is a bit experimental (channelling the excess run-off from the barn roof to the bed). Seems to be working so far, still dampish. It has allowed us to grow some new plants (lobelia, ligularia, Arum Lily).

We garden on fairly shallow soil (only 18" in some areas before we hit limestone)fairly acid, clay.

Current interests are woodland plants. I'm planning on developing a shady area under some large trees. May not happen immediately.

That's me in a thumbnail sketch. Hope it sounds interesting enough for the board. Look forward to adding in, Rumple

My goodness - many thanks for the very warm welcome. Looking forward to a very active exchange. (Hmmm, Kedi-gato. Fox terrier sitting next to me just spotted your walking C-A-T. Barking like mad at the screen right now).

I hope your fox terrier has calmed down by now Rumple. What is his or her name? The cat in my avatar is mine and is named Gato.

Actually, Kedi-gato, I borrowed his name. He's the real Rumple, self annointed Regent of Regent Park - the park where all girl dogs are welcome and boys dogs are not!
