I Went to 2 garden centres today to get some perennial evergreen bedding pants, mainly wanted Dianthus Deltoids (neither had any) and some Sedum (but couldn't find any that appealed). Instead of going home and leaving it for a couple of weeks I ended up purchasing

1 x Erysimum Hybridum Yellow Bird
1 x Anemone Coronaira Harmony Blue
1 x Small fox statue for the garden (which my 4 year old niece carried everywhere and ended up taking home with her lol).

Luckily these are not massive plants but I still need to find room for them as they were not part of the plan. Does anyone know when Dianthus deltoids are usually ready to purchase? they had loads of larger Dianthus, but unfortunately not the deltoids.

On the labels both say "plant for wildlife" but I cant find them listed on the RHS Pollinators list, has anyone grown these 2 plants and will they attract the bees?.

    Cheers

Are these the small perennial ones known as 'pinks' or 'maiden pinks'? If they are, then I usually see them in the shops around late april, early may.

Yes, I did read that they were also known as maiden pinks.. they have deep red flowers that contrast very well with the dark leaves.

hopefully I wont have filled the spaces reserved for them by then :)

They also have the most amazing fragrance (if you choose the right ones). I have some out the front. They keep coming back in greater numbers every year. Definitely worth having. I'm glad you reminded me of these because I'm at the stage of planning for this year, for parts that are as yet very sparse.

When the time is right, don't pay garden centre prices though. Our local greengrocer, and several market stalls on market day, sell them for about 50p each.
