Here's another extract from an article in the Amateur Gardening Magazine regarding the effects of the Gale force winds we've suffered:

Storms that battered the UK before Christmas and early in the New Year have led to soaring demand for fence panels.

AG has received reports of DIY Stores and timber merchants selling out on fence panels, posts and concrete post mix, after gales flattened thousands of fences.

Home Base, on of the UK biggest DIY and garden retailers, told AG that demand for fencing and accessories had "rocketed" due to January sales. A spokesman said "Homebase has seen a 350% uplift in the fencing category [year on year figures] and a 925% uplift on fence panels alone. The first week of January was the biggest week in the fencing category since the storms of 2007. We can confirm that fencing stock levels at stores throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland." Rival chain B&Q declined to comment.

I'm not surprised about the article Armandii. But I am surprised that people are still replacing panels with panels as our weather is so unpredictable now.

I'm pleased with the new fence we had put up late last year (more wind friendly) and as I lose other remaining panels elsewhere in my garden they will be changed to.

Picture below, sorry garden looks bare, it's still a working progress!
